Biological Mechanics are unique in the physical world, as biological systems are able to convert chemical energy into controlled active forces. These forces move cells and change their mechanical properties. Our work endeavors to understand these processes in basic biology, as well as human pathology, and draw upon biological designs for novel materials inspiration.

McGill University is located on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples. We honor, recognize, and respect these nations as the traditional stewards of the lands and waters on which we meet today.
